Construction Season, Does it Ever End?

The City of Winnipeg released their projected construction plan and named a few roads they hope to fix next year. Among them was Portage and Main, an already contested area of the city because of the Mayor’s proposal to open the intersection to pedestrians. Portage and Main is relatively easy to get around if you’re walking. There are tunnels underground to take you to all corners of the intersection, not to mention keep you warm and away from the windiest intersection in North America. Cool movie alert, Winnipeg! Or make that alerts! (Plural.)

If you’re looking for new movies this winter, you’ve come to the right place! A very cool new documentary hits Winnipeg’s glorious Cinematheque just in time for Christmas, one very much worthy of your attention. It’s a film called 78/52, a rather bland title for a movie that explores the infamous shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. The film examines this often-imitated scene from every conceivable angle, bringing in everyone from Peter Bogdanovich to Guerillmo Del Toro to offer their takes. It’s a fascinating film, which also acts as a wonderful entry point into Hitchcock’s work for any aspiring movie-geeks out there. […]
